Panasonic DMP BD65 - Panasonic Blu-ray Players
The BD65 is one of the latest models out, and is probably one of the last before Panasonic go into full scale development and production of combined players and recorders. It is Wifi ready, so you need to make sure the rest of your kit is up to date to get the most from this model. It's got a LAN connection, and if you don't have a LAN set up, then it's that's probably something else you should be taking a look at.
The real advancement with this model is the technology used to create the great imaging. Colour data is handled with pixel point accuracy, which is a bit of a coup over other makes of Blu-ray player. The result is absolute crisp and sharpness that is unlikely to have even the fussiest gadget freak complaining.
As you would expect, it comes with USB port, and SD card slot. You can take your SD card straight from your digital camera to view you latest photos in amazing colour. The unit has 0.5 Second Ultra Fast Booting, which is about as fast as booting gets - blink and you miss it turning on. When you buy this model, you will get three free Blu-ray titles (check offer still standing). All you need to do is send off the form that will be in with the players packaging and you get the three discs in the post.
Web functionality is available via the VIERA CAST screen, so you will be able to access You Tube, Picasa, and other Internet sites. It is great to be able to do this, though until You Tube clean up their technology, you won't get the full benefit of this model's superior picture, although when the technology catches up, your player will be there waiting. Still, at least it's better to have capacity for web connection than not, as you can access anything at anytime without leaving the room.
Overall a great buy that is built to last, and is unlikely to be superceded for quite a while - it will hold it's vintage.

Panasonic DMP BD65 - Review
This blu-ray player is coupled with my Panasonic TV. I insert a DVD, the TV turns on automatically and the movie is started with just a touch of a button. Before purchasing this player, I was concerned about the lag time that people have been complaining about with older Panasonic players. Well, I didn't notice much of a lag time. It took 36 seconds loading the HERO blu-ray DVD from the time I pressed the insert button to the time it showed the top menu screen. Not sure if that's too long for some people, but I'm glad I purchased this player! By Pinot Noir
