Philips BDP 3000 - Budget Blu-ray Players
This is the only big name 'dependable brand' in our budget Blu-ray player section, and for some people the brand and it's trustworthiness alone are enough to get a purchase. But, lets hlook at what it has to offer.
First up, despite the price, anyone you invite round to watch a few films won't immediately notice a bargain basement player hiding away in your home entertainment unit - because, as mentioned its a Phillips, and, it's also not a bad looker for the price. It has nice curved edges and the frontage has an elegant simplicity to it. Unfortunately, the USB port is located at the back of unit, so you need to think about where you put your player if you are going to be using the port regularly.
If you do want the web, then even at this price you can hook up via the Ethernet port for BD Live, but at this price, it doesn't come with Wifi, but we are not complaining, as everything else is peretty much in order, and it is a bargain from Phillips.

Anyone wanting an excellent Bluray player should look no further than this Philips model. The picture quality and sound are up there with the best and, a great added advantage, is this player`s ability to play just about any type of disc thrown at it, including VCD SVCD! Additionally it is very easy to hack enabling it to play any regions DVD - note it is not possible to hack the Bluray side at present, so only Region 2 Bluray discs are playable.
